Details: Produced by the Paris Mint these French gold 20 Franc Roosters are among the most popular gold bullion coins in the world. Containing 0.1867 troy ounces of .900 pure gold (22 karats) these coins come with a certificate of authenticity, ideal for fractional gold bullion investors.
Despite being over 100 years old, our roosters are in exceptional Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
First minted in 1899, after the defeat of Napoleon III in 1870, through 1914 (production ceased due to the start of World War I) the limited supply makes them an ideal diversifier for any gold bullion investor.
Designed by J.C Chaplain, the obverse features a right-facing profile of the national personification of the French Republic since the French Revolution. She embodies liberty, equality, fraternity and reason, the national motto of France. In the depiction Marianne wears the Phrygian cap or liberty cap with an oak leaf wreath symbolizing wisdom and the allegiance to the republican cause.
The reverse depicts a gallic rooster, an unofficial symbol of French tenacity and vigilance during the French Revolution. The inscriptions “Liberte – Egalite – Fraternite, 20 Fcs and 1913” are also included.
A sound investment and a wonderful addition to your international gold bullion collection.
